Walktober WalkSmart Workplace Challenge
The Challenge was a great success across the board with a total of 1038 individuals and 23 organisations participating in the Challenge . The organisations covered a wide spectrum - from state government, universities, banks, and local governments. Everyone wanted to be engaged in the 5 day challenge. The Department of Innovation, Industry & Regional Development won the Challenge, with the highest walking points per participant. This was determined by the number of short trips (less than 1km) and long trips (greater than 1km) each participant entered from the organisation. 1,000 people got to feel fitter, slimmer, healthier and smarter and 11,500 car and public transport journeys were 'saved' as people 'walked their talk'.
