Time for New Year Resolutions?
I have noticed this week that the city is busier. This must be the first week back from leave for a lot of people working in the city.
Now is a perfect time to consider changes in your routine, and what better way to beat the rat race than to walk all or part of the way to work.
Although tramming is a fantastic way to get around, I still find I can walk to work almost as quickly (ok three or four trams do pass me on my way), and I translate the savings into a free lunch! Who said there was no such thing as a free lunch :)
Even better, I have got in my daily exercise by getting to and from work and dont have to bother pounding the treadmill at the gym! This gives me more time for fun activities after work.
Another habit for my new year is everytime I walk into work (as it is now getting easier), I walk up the stairs to the tenth floor where I sit. Now I have done my toning exercises!
My pedometer helps me to track my activity for the day and set my own goals, which you can too! If achieving 5000 steps is a challenge for you, then that can be your goal! If you are already doing 10000 steps, then you could up your goal to 12000 or even more. Best of all you can track your progress on this site!
Congratulations everyone for beginning the enjoyable journey of walking all or part of the way to work, and I hope it is a new habit that sticks with you for life!
