Goal setting can be a motivating tool that assists you to have clear, defined targets to achieve.

Goals provide a vision and help you to prioritise planning and resources. Goals should be straight forward, defined, attainable and realistic. Put goals in writing to increase your commitment. Be sure to include a start and end date and re-assess goals based on successes and challenges faced.

The WalkSmart and CycleSmart goals system allows you to set yourself minimum targets for your walking and cycling. You can set a goal of how many steps or km per day you want to achieve. You'll receive an update every Friday lunchtime telling you how you're going, and the goals will appear on your statistical analysis page. Use this feature to provide motivation and feedback and to help reinforce your commitment.
