New Management of WalkSmart/CycleSmart

Kinect Australia has been appointed by the Department of Transport to manage and further develop the WalkSmart and CycleSmart program. Kinect Australia (formerly VICFIT) is a not for profit, health promotion organisation with a long history of developing and delivering effective physical activity strategies in association with state and commonwealth governments.

As a registered WalkSmart or CycleSmart participant, you are well aware of the benefits of active travel to and from work for improving health and well-being, decreasing traffic congestion and pollution, and building community connections.

The WalkSmart/CycleSmart program is an important part of the Department of Transport's TravelSmart initiative and it continues to support workplaces and their employees to reduce dependence on cars and encourage more walking, cycling and public transport use.

We are offering some exciting new initiatives to assist you to make active travel choices:

  • Telephone health coaching to assist participants to sustain changes in travel behaviour and to enhance physical activity levels. Health Coaching is a practice in which accredited health professionals apply evidence based techniques from the fields of psychology, counselling and lifestyle coaching.
  • Updating and expansion of the interactive websites to better serve as a tool for tracking your progress, including more resources and interactivity.
