New Bridge Links Merri Creek and Capital City Trails

A new pedestrian and cycling bridge and shared pathway, has provided a much needed link between Merri Creek and the popular Capital City Trails.

Minister for Roads and Ports Tim Pallas and Member for Richmond Richard Wynne launched the bridge - officially named Koonda Lat Bridge meaning 'travel over' in Wurundjeri - and adjoining pathways over Easter.

Opening the bridge Minister Pallas acknowledged the importance of the new linkages.

"With the bridge now open, pedestrians and cyclists now have a much needed link between the Merri Creek andCapitalCitytrails," he said.

Delivered in partnership with the City of Yarra and Darebin City Council, this project received a $245,000 grant under the Victorian Government's Local Area Access and TravelSmart Program.
