Advocacy for active transport: advocate and city council perspectives

This OPEN ACCESS article looks at the role of effective advocacy as a tool to increase uptake of active transport in New Zealand . Based on the findings of a recent study the article explores "advocacy for active transport from the perspectives of community and advocates representatives from City councils." It also discusses the role of health sector in promoting active transport.

As a result of the study the authors concluded that "potential existed for the health sector to make an important contribution to advocacy for active transport in New Zealand ." They also state that the study identified advocacy strategies "which could help ensure that health perspectives are considered in decisions relevant to active transport."
