About the pedometer

The pedometer clips onto the waistband of your skirt or trousers. It should be horizontal to the ground and positioned directly above the knee cap. The case should be closed during use and opened only to see the readings. It will not count steps if the case is open.

The Omron brand STEPS Pedometer HJ-005 comes with battery included but you'll have to remove the plastic insulation film from the battery case to turn on the pedometer. You do not have to open the device, simply pull the clear plastic tab to remove the film. Also remove the adhesive film from the front of the screen.

It is recommended that you adjust the sensitivity of the pedometer to maximise its accuracy. This is done by walking 100 steps then checking the number displayed by the pedometer.

• If the step count displayed is 5 steps more than actual, shift the ADJ knob slightly to the negative (-) side.
• If the step count is 5 steps less than actual, shift the ADJ knob slightly to the positive (+) side.
• Repeat the 100 step test again and adjust the ADJ knob accordingly till you reach +/- 5 step count accuracy against you actual strides.
